The Opening

Someone came to me with half an idea and a full conviction: a campaign to fund eleven people, eight athletes and three coaches, all raised inside Breno Macedo's social boxing project, to compete in Italy. Roma, Bologna, Perugia. I said yes before the sentence ended. My job was simple: make visible, in photographs, what was already real for them. The gym in Rio Claro carries the smell of time, sweated canvas, worn iron, victories taped to the walls. Kids cut through the light like swallows, too fast for a single frame. Every gesture seemed to carry something old and necessary. A kind of strength that doesn't shout. That moves in code. Sport teaches rhythm, consequence, community. It's language without a screen. Real weight in a world too weightless.
